about

A horror-themed instrumental rock and metal guitar extravaganza!

This is David's first foray into recording an electric guitar album at home. The sessions for 'The Outer Sanctum' occurred at my apartment at Shannon Glen Apartments in Evansville, IN in 2007-2008.
The sessions strangely enough began with 'Christmas In Hell' which was recorded on Christmas Day 2007.

Soon after the first song was recorded, I began to play with the idea of mixing horror & sci-fi with instrumental hard rock and metal guitar music.
The results are a mixture of crazy riffs and solos, and WAY too many samples, screams, howls, and evil laughter.

I am rather proud of this recording, although I totally admit I had no idea what I was doing, or how I was doing it - but it features many moments I cringe when I hear it (it could be so much better), but there are also several moments where I smile proudly.

I view this album a loose tribute to:
George Romero
Alfred Hitchcock
John Carpenter
Sam Raimi
Clive Barker
Stephen King
White Zombie/Rob Zombie
Buckethead
Tool
John 5

David Brewster - wrote, performed, recorded, mixed, edited, tweaked, leveled, compressed, annoyed neighbors, begged, borrowed, stole, reverbed, pasted, sweep-picked, watched 'The Office - Season 2' (thanks Dave N.), tapped, drank coffee, trilled, bent, sneezed, slid, stole, smoked, fell asleep, played 'Left 4 Dead', broke strings, cursed his computer, and got kinda scared during the making of this album.
