DAMIEN MCSHERRY Really like this album a lot, slack, carbon and faded seem like my favorite albums here. Dirty waters a great one too. Favorite track: Slack.

about

Slack is my first non-themed album in ten years.

This album was recorded in my home studio in Chicago, IL and Evansville, IN from 2013-2014.

The idea and inspiration for this album came from writing and riffing with my Ibanez HR Giger model (THRG2), and after a number of songs were recorded, I restrung the guitar with heavier strings and lowered the tuning.

Instead of my usual 1/2-step down+drop-D tuning, I chose to tune down 1 1/2 steps+drop-d tuning ("Drop-B tuning").
I found the slacked tuning inspiring, and I wrote a number of new riffs and ideas on the spot.

As I continued to explore this tuning and the sounds I could reach and achieve, I found that I had created an entirely new selection of music.
As I listened to my new creations, I wound up replacing a number of the songs I had originally planned to release on this album, with the new "slacked" songs.

I'm quite proud of this one.
